Giants' Jeff Samardzija (shoulder) ready for rehab assignment
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija (shoulder) could make a rehab start on Thursday or Friday.
"This is the best I've felt all year," Samardzija claimed Monday after throwing 20 pitches from the windup and 20 from the stretch. He could make a rehab start by the end of the week and be back in the Giants' rotation shortly thereafter. The 33-year-old right-hander was placed on the disabled list May 30 with right shoulder inflammation.
Samardzija averaged 14.7 FanDuel points in eight starts before suffering the injury while recording a 6.56 ERA and 1.68 WHIP with 26 strikeouts and 23 walks across 35 2/3 innings.
