A.J. Ramos will undergo surgery for torn labrum, out for rest of Mets' season
New York Mets pitcher A.J. Ramos will undergo season-ending surgery Wednesday for a torn labrum in his right shoulder.
Ramos was originally shut down and placed on the DL May 28 with what was believed to be rotator cuff tendinitis. However, after several opinions from doctors, the tear was discovered, and Ramos elected for surgery. The 28 year-old will be a free agent this summer, and after posting a 6.41 ERA over 28 appearances this year, he might struggle to attract teams.
Ramos will finish 2018 with a 6.41 ERA and 1.63 WHIP, to go with 22 strikeouts over 19.2 innings pitched.
