Mets' Jay Bruce diagnosed with a hip strain

An MRI revealed that New York Mets outfielder Jay Bruce is dealing with a strain in his right hip.

What It Means:

Bruce was placed on the disabled list retroactive to June 18 with the injury after he sat out four of the last five for the Mets. He could be out until July, and it's another dark mark on the veteran's season. Dominic Smith and Jose Bautista stand to see some more playing time in the outfield until Bruce is back.

Our models project Bruce for a .245 batting average with 10 home runs, 32 runs scored, 36 RBI, and 3 steals over 286 plate appearances remaining this season.
