Mario Hezonja signing with Knicks on one-year contract

Free agent forward Mario Hezonja is joining the New York Knicks on a one-year deal according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

What It Means:

According to Woj, the deal is worth $6.5 million. Hezonja apparently had plenty of suitors with the Blazers, Kings, and Grizzlies all showing interest in the former fifth overall pick. In the end Hezonja was reportedly attracted to New York by new head coach David Fizdale. This signing may put an end to the Michael Beasley era in New York.

Hezonja averaged 9.6 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.1 steals over 22.1 minutes per game in 2017-18. He posted a .515 effective field goal percentage, and his nERD of -2.5 ranked 456th in the NBA.
