Mets' Yoenis Cespedes (hip) starting at first base in rehab game Wednesday
New York Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes (hip) is starting at first base in a minor league rehab game Wednesday.
Mets manager Mickey Callaway reaffirmed last week that Cespedes is the club's left fielder, but this move suggests the 32-year-old may spend some time on first after the break. He is on track to be activated Friday for an interleague matchup on the road against the New York Yankees. Cespedes has been shelved since May 13 due to hip and quad injuries.
Cespedes averaged 11.0 FanDuel points in 37 games prior to the injury while slashing .255/.316/.474 with 8 home runs and 28 RBIs across 152 plate appearances.
