Cubs' Jose Quintana dealing with shoulder fatigue
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Jose Quintana has been dealing with left shoulder fatigue, pitching coach Jim Hickey revealed in an interview on WSCR-AM 670.
This explains why Quintana isn't making his first second-half start until Sunday, with nearly two weeks since his last outing. If manager Joe Maddon is any indication, though, the club isn't worried about him: "He just seemed to be fatigued a bit. Nothing awful. Just give him a couple extra days."
Our models project Quintana to pitch 62 1/3 more innings over the rest of the season, with a 4.62 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and 21.3 percent strikeout rate in that span.
