Astros place George Springer (thumb) on 10-day DL
The Houston Astros placed outfielder George Springer on the 10-day disabled list with a left thumb sprain.
Springer is hurt his thumb on a head-first slide on Sunday and is going to miss at least two weeks. Derek Fisher was called up in a corresponding move and will see some at-bats in the outfield with Tony Kemp the favorite to take over the leadoff spot for Houston.
Springer was slashing .250/.335/.436 with 19 homers and a .337 wOBA in 485 plate appearances this season.
