Cleveland's Leonys Martin out 'weeks' due to bacterial infection
Cleveland Indians outfielder Leonys Martin is dealing with a bacterial infection that affected multiple organs and was life threating as of a few days ago, per Jordan Bastian of MLB.com.
While situation sounds scary, the good news is Martin has turned a corner, and his outlook is positive. The Tribe believes the outfielder will need "weeks" to recover but should rejoin the team sometime in September. Greg Allen and Rajai Davis will handle center field with Martin out of action.
Martin has batted .255 with a .325 wOBA, 11 homers, and 48 runs scored in 353 plate appearances with the Detroit Tigers and Indians this season.
