5 Daily Fantasy Basketball Value Plays for 1/13/17

Lucas Nogueira could capitalize with more minutes in what is projected to be a blowout matchup. Which other low-cost options are in a good spot?

One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays. If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing in one of these lower-priced options into your lineup.

Let's take a look at five players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup.

Cory Joseph, PG, Toronto Raptors

FanDuel Price: $3,700
Projected FanDuel Points: 18.6
Projected FanDuel Value: 5.03

Cory Joseph has played serviceable minutes all season long with per-36-minute stats of 14.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.2 three-pointers made. Over his last three games, Joseph is averaging 10.3 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists. Though Joseph is not known to blow up the box score, he and the Toronto Raptors play the Brooklyn Nets tonight, who are playing the tail end of a back-to-back.

The Nets offer the best matchup to opposing point guards among teams playing tonight, so Joseph is worth considering as a flier.

Rodney Hood, SG, Utah Jazz

FanDuel Price: $4,200
Projected FanDuel Points: 24.5
Projected FanDuel Value: 5.82

Rodney Hood has been struggling mightily with his shooting efficiency, but he is coming off an 18-point performance, the most points he's scored in the new year. With point guard George Hill back healthy, the Utah Jazz offense will open up and Hood could see more opportunistic shot attempts.

Hood owns the highest projected value among all shooting guards playing tonight, and he'll be taking on the Detroit Pistons, who are playing the second game of a back-to-back set and will be without defensive stopper Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

Evan Turner, SF, Portland Trail Blazers

FanDuel Price: $4,400
Projected FanDuel Points: 22.1
Projected FanDuel Value: 5.03

Whether it's by scoring or passing, Evan Turner has been a key contributor for the Portland Trail Blazers' offense. Over his last three games, Turner is averaging 4.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 7.7 assists in 26.7 minutes. In the three games previous to that, Turner recorded double figures in each of them and averaged 14 points.

The Blazers have the third-highest implied total at 110.25 points, which means Turner could be in line to produce decent value as an offensive facilitator.

JaMychal Green, PF, Memphis Grizzlies

FanDuel Price: $4,500
Projected FanDuel Points: 23.4
Projected FanDuel Value: 5.2

JaMychal Green has yet to score double figures since suffering a fractured maxilla three games ago, but he is adjusting with a face mask after all. Though Green has averaging 27.9 minutes over his last three games, he is only averaging 5.3 points and 6.0 rebounds. During that same span, teammate Zach Randolph has seen his minutes increase by six minutes per game in comparison to his season average, which is something to monitor going forward.

Green has the fourth-highest projected value among all power forwards playing tonight, and he'll be taking on the trigger-happy Houston Rockets, so there will likely be a surplus of rebounding opportunities for Green, who is coming off a 10-rebound game.

Lucas Nogueira, C, Toronto Raptors

FanDuel Price: $3,600
Projected FanDuel Points: 16.7
Projected FanDuel Value: 4.63

Lucas Nogueira has seen his time on the court trend upwards as of late, as he's averaging 25.5 minutes over his last four games. Over that span, Nogueira has averaged 6.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.5 blocks. At near-minimum salary, Nogueira could present great value if he keeps up his recent play.

According to our tools, Nogueira is trending as the eighth-hottest player among all centers on Friday's slate. He's playing 42.08% above his season average in terms of fantasy points per night over his last five games. As a bonus, Nogueira gets an ideal matchup with the Nets, who offer the best matchup to opposing centers tonight.
