3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 1/10/18

Already struggling since the calendar flipped to January, Evan Fournier's slump may keep going because of a tough matchup against the Milwaukee Bucks. Which other NBA players should you avoid in tonight's DFS contests?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?

Evan Fournier, SG, Orlando Magic

FanDuel Price: $6,300

The New Year has not been kind to Evan Fournier and the Orlando Magic. Fournier is shooting just 31.5% from the floor in his last four games, and with a matchup looming against the Milwaukee Bucks, it's tough to see him breaking out of his slump on the road.

The Bucks are holding opposing shooting guards to 0.80 FanDuel points per minute this season. With the Magic coming off a game Tuesday in Dallas, watching Fournier post enough FanDuel points to reach value on the second night of a back-to-back seems awfully unlikely.

Nicolas Batum, SG, Charlotte Hornets

FanDuel Price: $6,100

Nicolas Batum has been in a small slump lately, and it may not get better Wednesday as the Charlotte Hornets welcome the Dallas Mavericks. For some reason, Batum has worse home splits compared to his road numbers this season, and this upcoming matchup won't help stop that trend.

The Mavs are holding opposing shooting guards to just 0.76 FanDuel points per minute, and even though Dallas is coming off a game on Tuesday, our models only project Batum for 26.9 FanDuel points.

Tyus Jones, PG, Minnesota Timberwolves

FanDuel Price: $5,800

Tyus Jones has struggled to find his shot since taking over for the injured Jeff Teague. Not only does Jones have a tough matchup against the Oklahoma City Thunder, but there apparently is a chance Teague makes his return on Wednesday.

If that happens, Jones would more than likely head back to the bench and play significantly fewer minutes. With the Thunder ranking seventh-best on our DvP Matchup Chart against point guards, the whole situation is avoidable on Wednesday's big slate unless we get definitive word on Teague's status prior to roster lock.
