3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 4/11/18

Jonas Valanciunas might not see big minutes with the Raptors coasting into the playoffs. Who else should you steer clear of on Wednesday night?

In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.

You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?

Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?

Jonas Valanciunas, C, Toronto Raptors

FanDuel Price: $5,800

The Toronto Raptors have been locked into the 1-seed for a while now, and after Jonas Valanciunas sat out Sunday, he proceeded to drop 25 points in 25 minutes against the Detroit Pistons two nights ago

However, in a meaningless game so close to the playoffs, it's hard to believe the Raptors will risk playing their starting center big minutes. The Miami Heat rank 7th-best against centers this season in our DvP Matchup Chart, and considering Valanciunas is averaging just 20.6 FanDuel points per game against the Heat, it's not the night to roster Valanciunas.

Dwyane Wade, SG, Miami Heat

FanDuel Price: $4,400

Unlike a year ago, the Miami Heat will be in the playoffs this season, but their seed is still up for grabs. A win would lock them into the 7th seed in the Eastern Conference, but whether tonight's game turns into a win or loss veteran leader Dwyane Wade probably won't see the court too much in a somewhat meaningless game.

On top of that, the Raptors have been very solid against shooting guards this season, limiting them to 0.80 FanDuel points per minute. Assuming Wade doesn't get too much playing time on the last night of the regular season, he can safely be avoided in DFS.

Evan Turner, SF, Portland Trail Blazers

FanDuel Price: $4,000

Evan Turner has been getting more run since Maurice Harkless went down, but it hasn't really helped his fantasy production on certain nights. On Wednesday, in a game to decide the 3rd and 4th seeds in the Western Confernce, Turner may have trouble racking up fantasy points against the defense of the Utah Jazz.

Turner is coming off a 2-for-9 shooting performance in his last game against the Denver Nuggets, and on Wednesday his matchup gets even tougher against the Jazz. Utah is holding small forwards to 0.74 FanDuel points per minute, and that makes Turner an easy no-go here.
