3 Daily Fantasy Basketball Players to Avoid on 3/27/19
In daily fantasy basketball, finding players you want to roster is a lot easier than finding players to avoid.
You can find a ton of great information and research on guys you might want to include in your DFS NBA lineups, but what about guys you may want to lessen your exposure to, or even fade altogether?
Avoiding players whose matchups or situations aren't as great as they seem can often be just as important as finding the best targets. After all, it takes only one player to sink a lineup. Searching for the landmines could mean the difference between winning and losing your contests. Which players should we avoid tonight?
Draymond Green, PF, Golden State Warriors
FanDuel Price: $6,800
We all know Draymond Green can stuff a stat sheet, but his dramatic drop in scoring has taken the shine off his fantasy game this season.
Green is averaging a career-low 7.1 points per game and has scored double-digit points in just 3 of his last 13 games. He is averaging only 27 FanDuel points per night in those 13 games, with over half (8) bringing fewer than 30 FanDuel points.
The presence of DeMarcus Cousins in the middle for the Golden State Warriors has been a significant factor in the points decline for Green. In 10 of the 14 games Green scored 10 or more points this season, Cousins was inactive. With Cousins playing on Wednesday, Green’s fantasy ceiling is capped while the matchup with the Memphis Grizzlies makes him a prime bust candidate.
Despite the turnover up front for the Grizzlies, they have held opposing power forwards to a league-low 0.87 FanDuel points per minute. In Green’s previous two meetings with Memphis this season, Dray has failed to surpass 30 FanDuel points in either game, averaging a lowly 18.4 FanDuel points per game.
Bojan Bogdanovic, SF, Indiana Pacers
FanDuel Price: $6,400
Bojan Bogdanovic is capable of going off and putting up big scoring nights, as shown by his 35-point outburst versus the Denver Nuggets on Sunday. However, in the four games leading up to that performance, the Indiana Pacers forward had been mired in a bit of a slump.
In those four games, Bogdanovic was held in check as he averaged just 14.8 points on 20-for-47 shooting (42.5%). He finished with fewer than 25 FanDuel points in three of the four games while averaging 22.0 FanDuel points a night. Considering Bogdanovic's recent performances, it is safe to play to stay away from the small forward on Wednesday’s limited five-game slate as he faces a difficult foe in the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The Thunder have held opposing small forwards to the 10th-fewest FanDuel points per minute this season, and the 3rd-lowest of the 10 teams in action tonight. The Thunder also enter into the matchup with the fourth-lowest defensive rating (106.0) of the season and are projected to limit the Pacers to a low 105.25 points.
Mikal Bridges, SF, Phoenix Suns
FanDuel Price: $5,500
The Phoenix Suns' Mikal Bridges has seen his minutes rise lately due to injuries to both Kelly Oubre and Josh Jackson, but the increase in playing time has not translated to consistent fantasy success
The rookie from Villanova has seen at least 31.5 minutes in each of his last seven games but has finished with fewer than 21 FanDuel points four times and posted a disappointing 8.3 FanDuel points his last time out. The main issue has been scoring, as Bridges finished with fewer than two points in three of those games while shooting 2-for-15 from the floor (13.3%). With Jackson possibly returning to action on Wednesday against the Washington Wizards, Bridges' fantasy value takes another hit as he could see fewer minutes in a matchup that gave him troubles before.
In his only meeting with the Wizards this season, Bridges finished with five points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals for 23.3 FanDuel points in 32.6 minutes.
