Dirk Nowitzki (ankle) to miss Mavericks' season opener
Dallas Mavericks forward/center Dirk Nowitzki will not play in the team's season opener against the Phoenix Suns.
Nowitzki underwent offseason ankle surgery, and his being sidelined to begin the regular season is as expected. It's not clear exactly when Dirk will make his return, but even when he's healthy, the longtime veteran will be relegated to a role off the bench.
Our models project Nowitzki for 11.2 points, 5.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 0.5 blocks, and 0.5 steals per game for the 2018-2019.
