Trail Blazers' Jake Layman scores career-high 24 points in easy win

Portland Trail Blazers power forward Jake Layman scored a season-high 24 points (10-of-13 field goals, 3-of-5 3-pointers, 1-of-3 free throws) with 7 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 turnovers in 26.2 minutes of a 108-86 win over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday.

What It Means:

Layman outscored the Suns 15-9 by himself in the first quarter and then matched his career-high midway through the second. He's unlikely to see this sort of usage consistently once C.J. McCollum (ankle) returns, which could be as soon as Saturday's home game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Layman also posted a season-high 36.4 FanDuel points in the blowout. His previous season-high was 20.4 and his current average on the year is 11.7 (20 games).
