Lakers, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope agree to one-year deal
The Los Angeles Lakers and free agent guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope have agreed to a one-year, $18 million deal for the 2017-18 season.
After the Detroit Pistons acquired Avery Bradley in a deal with the Boston Celtics, they renounced Caldwell-Pope, a restricted free agent at the time. The 24-year-old hit the market in search of a four-year deal worth roughly $100 million, but his market wasn't as competitive as many expected. Nevertheless, he should fit in well with the young Lakers as they hold out for bigger free agents in summers to come.
In 2016-17, Caldwell-Pope's -1.4 nERD ranked him 133rd of 245 NBA guards. We'll have to see if his efficiency improves with the change in scenery.
