Thunder's Carmelo Anthony opts into player option for 2018-19

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Carmelo Anthony has informed the team that he will not exercise his early termination option and has opted into the final year of his contract.

What It Means:

The deal will pay him $27.9 million, which is far and above what Melo would have gotten in free agency after a down first year with OKC. Barring a late trade or buyout, Anthony will play next season with the Thunder.

Anthony averaged 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists on a .476 effective field goal percentage last year. His nERD Of -3.0 ranked 469th in the NBA.
