Enes Kanter still undecided on contract decision with Knicks

New York Knicks center Enes Kanter is still debating whether or not to pick up his player option worth $18.6 million for the 2018-19 season.

What It Means:

Kanter has until June 29 to decide whether to take the $18.6 million for next season, or to opt out and become an unrestricted free agent. The 26 year-old would have plenty of suitors if he became available, but it's a tough call with that kind of money involved. If Kanter opts out and the Knicks don't re-sign him, Kyle O'Quinn and Luke Kornet could see more playing time at center, as could Kristaps Porzingis once he is recovered.

Kanter averaged 14.1 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 1.5 assists over 25.8 minutes per game in 2017-18. He owned a career-best .592 effective field goal percentage, and his nERD of 7.8 ranked him 23rd among all players.
