Mavericks and Dirk Nowitzki mutually agree to decline $5 million team option
The Dallas Mavericks have declined Dirk Nowitzki's team option for the 2018-19 season.
Dirk is not going anywhere. This move is a mutual decision with Dirk in order to save cap space to try and sign DeAndre Jordan. Dirk is likely to sign a new contract with Dallas in July, according to Marc Stein.
At 39 years old in 2017-18, Dirk averaged 12.0 points and 5.7 rebounds. His 8.3 rebounds per 36 minutes was his second-highest rate in his past 10 seasons.
