Warriors to explore chances of signing DeAndre Jordan
According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Golden State Warriors "intend to at least explore their free-agent chances" with center DeAndre Jordan.
Jordan opted out of his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday. He is expected to find his way to the Dallas Mavericks, but Jordan and Kevin Durant are good friends, and Golden State general manager Bob Myers was once Jordan's agent. At the moment, the big man could only sign for $5.3 million under the midlevel exception.
This past season, Jordan averaged 12.0 points, 15.2 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game in 77 starts.
