Lakers and Luol Deng agree to buyout

The Los Angeles Lakers and forward Luol Deng have agreed to a contract buyout as part of the waive-and-stretch provision, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

What It Means:

Deng will reportedly give up $7.5M of the $36.8M still owed him on the four-year, $72M contract he signed in the summer of 2016. The Lakers now have cleared $38M in salary cap space for 2019 free agency.

Deng played in just one game for the Lakers in 2017-18. He scored 2 points with 1 assists and 1 steal in 13 minutes of action.
