4. Baylor

The Baylor Bears were looking to dance for the fifth straight year, but they will have to watch from afar as their name was not called on Selection Sunday. Like Notre Dame, they were a victim of too many good teams in their conference, finishing with the 16th-hardest strength of schedule. Not only were they forced to face their conference foes, but they built their resume early on with games against tournament-bound Creighton, Wichita State, and Xavier.

Though they had a chaotic second half of the season, they beat Kansas, Texas, and Texas Tech within the span of a week in February. One would think that a string of quality wins like that would be remembered come selection time, but apparently those in charge didn't agree. Their downfall may have been Kansas State.

Despite finishing significantly higher than KSU in our power rankings, the Bears lost to the Wildcats twice this year, one of which occurred just a week before seeding. Not all is lost, however. They have a 1 seed in the NIT tournament, so they'll at least have an opportunity to take home some hardware, should they put forth the effort.
