Danjel Purifoy not traveling with Auburn to Kentucky

Auburn Tigers freshman forward Danjel Purifoy (ankle) will not travel with the team to Lexington to face the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, according to Jerry Tipton of the Lexington Herald-Leader.

What It Means:

A big blow to the Tigers upset chances as Purifoy was second on the team with 13.8 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. The freshman injured his ankle on Saturday, playing only 10 minutes before being forced out versus the Ole Miss Rebels. Purifoy has missed one game and looks like he will be out for a while with the high ankle sprain. Horace Spencer and Anfernee McLemore will do their best to pick up the slack for the time being.

The Tigers are 1-3 in the SEC and see their NCAA Tournament hopes fading fast, especially if their talented freshman is out for an extended period. Our models project Auburn with only a 6.1% chance of making the field of 68 and an 18-13 record overall.
