Battle's strong play this year, combined with his standing as one of the top recruits in the 2016 class, led to some speculation that he would opt for the NBA after one season. By returning, Battle will continue to improve his game. He averaged 11.3 points for the year, but recorded 13.2 points per game in his 25 starts.

Over his final seven games, Battle averaged 17.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.4 three-pointers.
