College Football Daily Fantasy Helper: Saturday 9/14/19 After Hours Slate

Week Three of College Football is here! FanDuel's Saturday night College Football DFS After Hours slate includes 12 games.

In case you're unfamiliar with how it works, you can check out the rules and scoring on FanDuel, where you can hit the lobby each week to see the full array of slates and contests being offered.

As for the basics, your roster consists of a quarterback slot, two running back slots, three wide receiver slots (which also includes tight ends) and one super flex slot. In the flex, you can insert one player from any position, including quarterbacks.

Here, our goal is to help you field a roster full of fantasy goodness, and in true numberFire fashion, we'll use our in-house projections as well as betting totals and advanced statistics to tackle as many slates as possible in the lead-up to the College Football Playoff. This week, we are only breaking down Saturday's After Hours slate, which locks at 7:00 p.m. EST.

Let's breakdown which players are in great spots as well as identify some players with cheap price tags that will allow you to roster the high dollar players.

Quarterbacks

Jalen Hurts, Oklahoma ($10,600) - Hurts has averaged nearly 300 yards passing while completing 82.8% of his passes through the first two games of the 2019 season. The senior signal caller has thrown almost as many touchdown passes (six) as incompletions (seven). The dual-threat senior quarterback has also rushed for 224 yards and three touchdowns. With a team projected total slight north of 35, according to our models, expect Hurts to produce a massive stat line.

Alan Bowman, Texas Tech ($10,100) - The sophomore quarterback averaged 329.8 yards passing in 2018 as a freshman. Through two games in 2019, Bowman is averaging 348.0 yards passing per game. Bowman has thrown at least 45 passes in four out of the last six games he’s started, dating back to the 2018 season. Up next for the Texas Tech Red Raiders' quarterback is a date with Arizona Wildcats' porous pass defense. Through two games, Arizona has surrendered 809 passing yards and seven touchdowns.

Bryce Perkins, Virginia ($9,600) - Perkins accounted for 34 of the Cavaliers' 45 offensive touchdowns in 2018 (75.6%). Through two games this season, the dual-threat quarterback is averaging 186.5 yards passing, 56 yards rushing, along with two and half total touchdowns. Perkins should have no problem inflicting damage on a reeling Florida State Seminoles' defense that has surrendered 520.0 yards per game and eight touchdowns to opposing offenses.

Others to consider: Bo Nix, Jacob Eason, Trevor Lawrence, Sam Ehlinger, Adrian Martinez, Khalil Tate, Quentin Harris, Feleipe Franks

Running Backs

Salvon Ahmed, Washington ($9,000) - After being held to 44 yards rushing on 15 carries in the Washington Huskies' season opener, Salvon Ahmed rebounded against California's stingy run defense in game two of this season. Ahmed ran for 115 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries in a 20-19 loss. With Washington's projected team total slightly north of 49, according to our models, Ahmed should have no problem producing a solid stat line against Hawaii Warriors' swiss cheese run defense. In only two games, the Warriors have allowed 441 yards rushing and five rushing touchdowns to enemy backfields.

JaTarvious Whitlow, Auburn ($8,700) - Whitlow has emerged as a workhorse for the Auburn Tigers this season. He's rushed for 206 yards and one touchdown on 47 carries in two games this season. With one of the Tigers' top wide receivers expected to miss this week's game (Seth Williams), we should expect a heavy dose of Whitlow and the Auburn running game. Throw in a date with Kent State Golden Flashes' atrocious run defense (allowing an average of 211.5 yards rushing) and Whitlow makes for a good play this week.

Mike Hollins, Virginia ($6,500) - Hollins rushed for 78 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries in Virginia Cavaliers’ win over William and Mary last week. Virginia’s Head Coach, Bronco Mendenhall, sounds like a big believer in Hollins after his postgame comments last week. The sophomore running back has earned himself plenty of playing time even if week one starter, Wayne Taulapapa, returns from injury on Saturday.

Others to consider: Travis Etienne, JJ Taylor, Trey Sermon, Keaontay Ingram, Maurice Washington, Kennedy Brooks, Lamical Perine, Deon Jackson, Ta'Zhawn Henry

Wide Receivers

Jalen Reagor, TCU ($9,500) - The junior wide receiver started off the 2019 season with five receptions for 71 yards and one touchdown in Texas Christian Horned Frogs' season opener. Regarded as one of the top wide receivers in the country, Reagor is known for his speed. This is a phenomenal spot for Reagor as Purdue's pass defense has allowed an average of 357.5 yards passing so far this season.

CeeDee Lamb, Oklahoma ($9,000) - Lamb came into the 2019 season pegged as Oklahoma Sooners' next big superstar wide receiver after catching 65 passes for 1,158 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2018. The big play wide receiver has not disappointed to start the season as he's caught a touchdown in both of the Oklahoma Sooners first two games. This week's matchup against UCLA Bruins is enticing for the Sooners' top wide receiver as UCLA ranks 104th in the country in passing yards allowed (average of 267.5 passing yards allowed).

Erik Ezukanma, Texas Tech ($4,000) - The former four-star recruit was pegged as Texas Tech’s breakout player this spring following a solid performance (114 yards receiving) in the team’s spring game. However, Ezunkanma has only caught four passes for 29 yards through two games this season. For the third straight game, the redshirt freshman should start opposite of T.J. Vasher in Texas Tech’s air raid offense. He’s a risky roster this week, but most importantly, he’s cheap, and that will allow you to spend up on several high-end players.

Others to consider: Rondale Moore, Cedric Byrd II, JoJo Ward, Devin DuVernay, Collin Johnson, TJ Vasher, Tee Higgins, Justyn Ross, Aaron Fuller, Andre Baccellia, JD Spielman, Wan'Dale Robinson, John Hightower, Joe Reed, Dalton Rigdon, Jaylen Erwin, Jacob Copland, Jamarye Joiner, Cedric Peterson, Xavier White, Charleston Rambo
