Alvin Kamara, RB, New Orleans Saints

DraftKings Price: $9,500
Projected Points: 21.7

The New Orleans Saints are three-point road underdogs as they travel to face the Atlanta Falcons in Week 3. The Saints have a 25.00 point implied team total, which is just the ninth-highest on the main slate. Why in the world would I want Alvin Kamara over the likes of Todd Gurley or Ezekiel Elliott? While the latter two running backs have higher projected point totals, Kamara might have the highest ceiling this week.

The Falcons' defense has been ravaged by injuries in the first two weeks of the season, as they are currently without their stud middle linebacker, Deion Jones, and hard-hitting safety, Keanu Neal. Already a defense that funnels opposing teams to check the football down to the running backs in passing games, they struggled to contain Christian McCaffrey in Week 2, allowing him to catch the football 14 times for 102 receiving yards.

Now, the Falcons face off against Alvin Kamara, one of the best pass catching running backs in the NFL. While Drew Brees has always been better at home than on the road, we don't need to worry about his overall performance. Brees has targeted his running backs on 31.5% of his attempts since the 2017 season, which is the highest rate in the NFL, and g
ame theory suggests that the Saints will indeed be playing from behind in this game. This could result in Kamara racking up the receptions, which could lead to a massive score in DraftKings' full point-per-reception format.
