Fantasy Football: 3 Bold Predictions for Week 17

With Seattle locked into their playoff spot, could this be a true breakout week for Rashaad Penny?

The NFL playoffs are just a week away, which means there aren't really many games that actually matter in Week 17. Teams have already clinched 75% of the total playoff spots, leaving only a few more up for grabs. Another 17 teams are completely out of contention themselves and in most cases would be better served trying to finesse out a better spot in next year's draft than trying to win.

The level of competition will certainly be down as teams on each end of the spectrum rest their stars. Most fantasy leagues are already done, further diminishing the reasons to engage with this week's games.

And yet, here you are, reading fantasy football content on a Friday despite all of that. If you're reading in Week 17, you must be a diehard fan, someone who just can't let go. And that's okay -- you don't have to. You can still scratch that fantasy itch through other means, like daily fantasy or by making bold predictions. And that's exactly what we do in this article.

Last week's predictions didn't go so well. Drew Brees had a great game, throwing for over 300 yards with a completion percentage near 70%, but unfortunately the New Orleans Saints' running backs were the ones finishing drives in that game. The Los Angeles Chargers D/ST was only able to force one turnover against Lamar Jackson, and thus, did not have a great fantasy outing. And lastly, Taywan Taylor managed to catch all 3 of his targets for 64 yards despite losing his quarterback halfway through the game but still came up short of the 100-yard mark.

It's too difficult to make predictions regarding players like Christian McCaffrey this week, as he might not receive a full workload given the circumstances. So instead, this week we have three bold predictions for players and teams with something to play for.
