Full 2018 NFL Playoff and Seeding Odds Entering Week 17

What are the odds of each team making the playoffs entering Week 17? And who's in line to snag first-round byes?

By the time we get to Week 17 most years, it seems like a lot of the playoff dust has already settled. Teams will be locked into their seeds and prepared to rest players in the regular-season finale in order to gear up for the postseason run.

This year's a whole different animal.

Thus far, only two seeds are officially set in stone, both in the NFC with the New Orleans Saints locked into home-field advantage and the Dallas Cowboys nuzzling up to the 4 seed. Everything else is still to be decided.

And a lot of the lingering questions are big ones. The Kansas City Chiefs and Los Angeles Chargers still need to decide the AFC West with the winner potentially having home-field throughout the playoffs and the loser going on the road next week. The Baltimore Ravens, Pittsburgh Steelers, Indianapolis Colts, and Tennessee Titans are all fighting for just two remaining playoff spots in the AFC, and the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles will be gunning for an NFC wild-card slot.

There's going to be chaos. Sunday is a huge day for football, and a lot of things are going to change. But how do things stand entering the final full Sunday of the season?

Let's take a look at that now with the help of numberFire's algorithms. Using playoff scenarios in conjunction with each team's win odds, we can find out pretty easily which teams are likely to land where and which teams will be mere observers in January.

Here's what the numbers have to say for each conference, starting in the AFC, where nothing is fully decided just yet.
