Week 17 NFL FanDuel Salary Movers

Things can change quickly in fantasy football. To quote Ferris Bueller, "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it."

We're here to "look around" and make sure we don't miss any week-to-week salary changes that could pay dividends on FanDuel.

Maybe a player had an outlier performance and saw their salary rise too high, making them a sub-optimal play. Perhaps a player saw an increase in their role but played on Monday night after salaries for the following week's slate already came out, and therefore they haven't been priced accordingly.

This week's article will take a look at which players salaries have changed the most from Week 16 to Week 17 and dig into why those moves happened.

Nick Foles, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Week 16 Salary: $6,000
Week 17 Salary: $7,600

Tell me if you've heard this story before: Philadelphia Eagles starting quarterback Carson Wentz is injured and backup Nick Foles leads the team to victory and maybe a spot in the playoffs. Crazy, right? There was speculation Wentz could go in Week 15 against the Los Angeles Rams, but Foles got the start and led them to a 30-23 win.

Priced at just $6,000 at home in a must-win game versus the Houston Texans, Foles was a popular value play in Week 16 paired with either Alshon Jeffery or Zach Ertz. He blew away all projections, passing for an Eagles' single-game record 471 yards and 4 touchdowns for 31.94 FanDuel points. He was underpriced given his prior track record, and he's now the biggest mover of the week at quarterback, up $1,600. At this point, it does not appear Wentz will be placed on injured reserve despite fractured vertebra in his back, but Foles will start in Week 17.

That means Foles will get at least one more shot on your DFS rosters this season, as to make the playoffs the Eagles must win their final regular season game against division rival Washington Redskins and the Minnesota Vikings must lose. The Redskins are numberFire's 10th-ranked passing defense and surrender over 18 FanDuel points per game to the quarterback position. They have little to play for except spoiler, as they were eliminated from playoff contention with the Eagles' win Sunday. Combine that with the release of starting safety D.J. Swearinger on Monday, and we're likely to see a different unit than usual.

C.J. Anderson, RB, Los Angeles Rams

Week 16 Salary: $4,500
Week 17 Salary: $6,200

At the beginning of the season, C.J. Anderson looked poised to take over the majority of the work and be a potential league winner should an injury occur to the starting running back ahead of him. Until November, he was the backup to Christian McCaffrey, but the Carolina Panthers released him on the 12th and after a few visits, he signed with the Oakland Raiders a month later. That stint was just a week long and he was waived on December 11th. But with Todd Gurley fighting knee inflammation and number two back Malcolm Brown already injured, the Rams signed the veteran ahead of their Week 16 game against the Arizona Cardinals.

Early reports indicated Gurley would play barring a setback in warmups only to be ruled out a few hours later. Anderson carried the load for the Rams offense in Gurley's place, rushing 20 times for 167 yards and a touchdown in an easy Rams win. Unless you late-swapped for Anderson in lineups where you had Gurley, you likely missed out on his 22.7 FanDuel points given the uncertainty of Anderson's workload should he start.

The Rams' need to win to keep the No. 2 seed in the NFC and get a home date against the San Francisco 49ers. The Rams are currently 10-point favorites and Gurley has not practiced through Thursday. Coach McVay said he could still play in the season finale without practicing, but getting your star running back two weeks off seems to be the more pertinent move. That would give Anderson another strong touch projection and though he is the biggest mover of the week at any position (up $1,700), I'll gladly pay $6,200 for his expected role in the Rams' offense with the third-highest implied total on the slate.

Robby Anderson, WR, New York Jets

Week 16 Salary: $5,900
Week 17 Salary: $7,000

Robby Anderson was one-half of another value-stack with Sam Darnold, given their combined price of just $12,600, facing the Packers' 30th-ranked passing defense. The rookie quarterback looked his way 13 times Sunday, and Anderson caught 9 of those targets for 140 yards and a touchdown for 24.5 FanDuel points. He was certainly popular given the matchup and price, as he carried the third-highest ownership percentage (21.91 percent) at wide receiver in the FanDuel Sunday Million and was on over 43 percent of head-to-head rosters.

Anderson's salary bump of $1,100 stands out this week as he moves from underpriced to just outside the top 10 at his position. The Jets close out their regular season on the road versus the AFC East Champion New England Patriots. Like the Rams in the NFC, New England needs to win to lock-in the No. 2 seed in their conference so we can expect the normal starters on defense.The Jets have the second-lowest implied team total on the slate at just 15.5, but there's still room for Anderson to have a productive day, as our projections are optimistic at 12.3 FanDuel points.

Rob Gronkowski, TE, New England Patriots

Week 16 Salary: $6,600
Week 17 Salary: $5,800

Rob Gronkowski missed Weeks 9 and 10 due to injury but returned after their Week 11 bye. He's played at least 95 percent of the snaps from Weeks 12-15 but was on the field for just 78 percent against the Buffalo Bills Sunday. If you needed Gronk in your season-long championships, the bottom fell out of his fantasy production as he failed to catch any of his 3 targets a week after eclipsing 100 yards and scoring a touchdown. His salary has dropped once again after that goose egg, this time down $800 to $5,800, placing him in the same range as rookies Chris Herndon and Ian Thomas.

As I mentioned above, the Patriots still need a win to lock-up the No. 2 seed in the AFC. As 13.5-point home favorites, Dwayne Allen could see a lot of work again as a blocking tight end, keeping Gronk off the field. The price is certainly tempting, but it's hard to have much confidence in him this week, especially with a potential first-round bye on the horizon.
