49ers add Tom Savage to quarterback room
The San Francisco 49ers signed quarterback Tom Savage.
Savage will join second-year undrafted free agent Nick Mullens as the available backups for C.J. Beathard. The 28-year-old quarterback was released by the New Orleans Saints at final cuts after the Houston Texans let him walk.
Savage has completed 181-of-315 passes (57.5 percent) for 2,000 yards (6.3 yards per attempt) with 5 touchdowns and 7 interceptions in 13 games (nine starts).
