Patriots' Rob Gronkowski to decide future in 'week or two'

New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski hopes to make a decision on his playing future in a "week or two."

What It Means:

Gronkowski was understandably more focused on celebrating his third Super Bowl victory after the game, but there have been signs that one of the greatest tight ends in the history of the league intends to retire this offseason. He missed three games in 2018 due to injuries and appeared to lose a step while on the field, evidenced by 52.5 receiving yards per game, the lowest since his rookie season. Gronk turns 30 in May and is due $9 million in base salary next year.

Gronkowski caught 47 passes on 72 targets for 682 yards and 3 touchdowns in 13 games during the regular season. He added 13 receptions (19 targets) for 191 scoreless yards in the playoffs.
