Cam Newton will not play in Panthers' preseason opener
Carolina Panthers coach Ron Rivera said quarterback Cam Newton will not play in the preseason opener on Thursday.
Newton underwent shoulder surgery this offseason, so the Panthers are understandably taking the cautious approach with their quarterback. Kyle Allen will start with rookie Will Grier seeing plenty of snaps.
Our models project Newton as the fantasy QB5 with 3,857.8 passing yards, 24.1 touchdown passes, 12.2 interceptions, 555.0 rushing yards, and 5.7 rushing touchdowns in 2019.
