Alvin Kamara to play 'similar' role for Saints in 2019

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara is expected to have a "similar" role this season, per head coach Sean Payton.

What It Means:

"We’ve been pleased with the balance we’ve had with him," Payton said. "We think it’s been a good count." There was some belief the Saints would use Kamara as more of a workhorse following Mark Ingram's offseason departure to the Baltimore Ravens, but it appears new addition Latavius Murray will see some early-down work and possibly goal-line opportunities. Kamara eclipsed 1,500 yards from scrimmage in each of his first two seasons, totaling 31 touchdowns.

Kamara is currently the RB4 in numberFire's preseason fantasy rankings. Our models project him for 894.8 rushing yards and 10.52 touchdowns, with another 784.6 receiving yards and 5.97 touchdowns on 84.2 receptions.
