Cam Newton (foot sprain) expected to play Week 1 for Carolina
Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton has been diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain but is expected to be able to play in Week 1 of the regular season.
Newtown suffered the injury during a sack in Thursday's preseason game. He was seen in a walking boot after the game but with over two weeks before the season opener, the Panthers remain optimistic.
numberFire's models project Newton as the QB5 in fantasy this season with 3,857.8 passing yards, 24.1 touchdowns, and 12.2 interceptions while adding 555.0 yards and 5.7 touchdowns on the ground.
