Washington offers praise for wide receiver Ryan Grant
Washington Redskins wide receiver Ryan Grant is an "excellent receiver," according to Redskins' coach Jay Gruden.
"I feel really strongly about Ryan Grant," Gruden said. "I think he’s an excellent receiver just waiting for his opportunity to be a starter." The comments are interesting. Grant did get an opportunity to start while DeSean Jackson was sidelined last season, and he responded with just 16 catches in six games.
On 42 targets in 2015, Grant accrued 22.46 Reception Net Expected Points (NEP), the 19th most among wideouts with less than 50 targets this season. He had an atrocious -2.43 Target NEP, however, indicating a few valuable plays but a lack of consistency.
