Kenjon Barner will fill receiving back role for Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles running backs Kenjon Barner and Byron Marshall would fill the receiving back role with Darren Sproles (concussion) out for Week 15, head coach Doug Pederson said.
Pederson also said Barner would returns punts. The Eagles have never trusted Marshall in pass protection, so it would be surprising if he saw more than a few gadget-play touches. Ryan Mathews should dominate backfield work at the Baltimore Ravens, a tough matchup.
The Ravens' run defense is the most limiting in the league, at -0.20 Rushing Net Expected Points (NEP) per attempt. Our algorithms project Mathews as the RB21 this week, with 62 rushing yards and 0.31 touchdowns on 15 attempts, as well as 19 receiving yards and 0.08 touchdowns on 3 catches. Barner is our RB54 for fantasy this week. He's not a fantasy consideration.
