Panthers add to offense by taking Curtis Samuel with 40th pick
The Carolina Panthers selected Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver/running back Curtis Samuel with the 40th overall pick of the 2017 NFL draft.
Samuel is an explosive player in the vein of Percy Harvin as he recorded 425 snaps at wideout and 220 at tailback his junior season. Small in stature (5'11", 196 lbs) but blessed with speed (4.31 40-yard dash), Samuel is an intriguing pick for the Panthers that, in combination with first-round pick Christian McCaffrey, gives Cam Newton another weapon to help build the Carolina offense around.
Samuel recorded 74 catches and 97 carries in 2016 for 1,636 total yards and 15 touchdowns.
