Steelers' Ryan Shazier hopes to stay healthy in 2017
Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Ryan Shazier said his goal is to play a full season.
Shazier has proven his talent through three years in the league, but he has managed just 34 total games out of a possible 48. "Your best ability is availability," Shazier said. "[Playing a full season] would just show my consistency of being able to be a playmaker for this team... show people in the league that I can be a dynamic player." With Lawrence Timmons gone, Shazier's health will be even more important moving forward.
Our models project Shazier for 109 tackles, 4.31 sacks, 1.96 interceptions, and 5.74 passes defended in 2017. The 2016 Steelers' defense was 19th-best in opponent-adjusted Defensive Net Expected Points (NEP) per play.
