Washington not pleased with Samaje Perine's first showing
Washington rookie running back Samaje Perine had a "rough" start to his career in the preseason opener, head coach Jay Gruden said.
"A little fumble; dropped a pass," Gruden added. "Didn’t hit the hole as violently as we’d like him to." Despite the bad start, Gruden added he has not lost faith in the rookie and plans to give him more work. Even so, Rob Kelley is locked in as the starter.
Our models project Perine for 518 rushing yards and 4.51 touchdowns on 144 attempts, as well as 15 catches for 113 receiving yards and 0.61 touchdowns. Perine is the 42nd-best running back in our projections at the moment, while Kelley is the 31st.
