San Francisco's Matt Breida locked-in as second running back
San Francisco 49ers undrafted rookie running back Matt Breida is the backup to Carlos Hyde to begin the 2017 season.
The writing was on the wall all offseason, as Breida handily outperformed fellow rookie Joe Williams (ankle, I.R.) and veteran Tim Hightower. Williams was deactivated and Hightower released, so Breida will enter year uncontested as the change-up back to starter Hyde.
Our models project Breida as fantasy's RB61, with 232 rushing yards and 1.15 touchdowns on 59 carries, adding 35 catches for 270 yards and 1.15 scores.
