Texans sign Josh Johnson, release Matt McGloin

The Houston Texans signed quarterback Josh Johnson and released quarterback Matt McGloin.

What It Means:

Johnson, now 31, will be the third quarterback behind Tom Savage and T.J. Yates as the Texans try to figure things out without Deshaun Watson (ACL). He was with the New York Giants last season but hasn't thrown a pass since the 2013 campaign as a member of the Cincinnati Bengals. McGloin was signed last Friday.

In 29 career games, Johnson has completed 96-of-177 passes (54.2 percent) for 1,042 yards with 5 touchdowns and 10 interceptions while adding 274 rushing yards on 44 carries.
