Panthers' Curtis Samuel (ankle) out for the season
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Curtis Samuel suffered ligament damage and is out for the season, per ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Samuel's ankle injury was thought to be serious and this all but confirms it. An MRI revealed that the rookie's season is over after just nine games. With that, Russell Shepard and Damiere Byrd (forearm) should be the beneficiaries of more snaps and targets with Kelvin Benjamin gone and Samuel on the shelf.
In 9 games and on 26 targets, Samuel produced 15 catches for 115 yards. He was projected for 23.7 catches, 205.9 yards and 0.90 touchdowns before being ruled out for the remainder of the year.
