'Real concern' that Derek Carr won't mesh with Jon Gruden if hired as Raiders' coach
Reports are suggesting that there is "real concern" that Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr won't mesh if Jon Gruden is brought on as the team's new head coach.
The concern is that Gruden will bring his fiery football attitude into Oakland and ride Carr, who is coming off of a disappointing campaign in 2017. If Carr doesn't adapt to Gruden's style, it could become a problem pretty quickly for the Raiders' future. If Gruden takes over, this will be an interesting relationship to watch in the offseason.
In 2017, Carr played 15 games, throwing for 3,496 yards, 22 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He more than doubled his interceptions from a year ago and fell short of the 32 and 28 touchdowns he had in the previous two seasons. Carr ranked 15th among all quarterbacks in Passing Net Expected Points this year.
