Cardinals expected to release Adrian Peterson this offseason
The Arizona Cardinals are expected to release running back Adrian Peterson during the offseason.
With David Johnson going down in Week 1, the Cardinals traded for Peterson from the New Orleans Saints in October. He proved to have something left in the tank, rushing for 448 yards and 2 touchdowns over six games for them. However, he would ultimately end up on injured reserve after suffering a neck injury in Week 12. Considering Johnson will be back at 100 percent for the start of next season, it's no surprise Arizona plans to move on from Peterson.
Peterson will be 33 entering the 2018 season, but he figures to get another shot somewhere else. He's appeared in just 13 games across the past two seasons.
