Report: Marcus Peters 'may not be long' for Kansas City

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports he "continues to hear" that Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters "may not be long" for Kansas City.

What It Means:

La Canfora expects trade chatter to intensify at next week's combine. Other have also mentioned Peters' name in trade talks, so this isn't much of a surprise. Even after shedding Alex Smith's contract, the Chiefs are still looking to keep cap space open with Peters coming up on a club option for 2019 and free agency in 2020. He's due just $1.74 million this season.

Peters rated out as Pro Football Focus' 17th-ranked corner in 2018. He finished with 42 tackles, 9 passes defensed, 5 interceptions and 4 forced fumbles in 14 games.
