Jets' Matt Forte announces retirement after 10 NFL seasons
New York Jets running back Matt Forte announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday.
At 32, Forte has been dealing with knee issues for the majority of the past two seasons. He hasn't been fully healthy for quite some time, and his time with the Jets has been particularly disappointing. Prior to that, Forte was a fantasy monster in his years with the Chicago Bears. For the Jets, they'll save $3 million against the cap and move forward with younger backs.
Forte finished this season with 7.55 NEP in 12 games. His best season was in 2013, when he totaled 49.4 NEP on 1,933 total yards and 12 scores for the Bears.
