Report: Rams to trade or release Tavon Austin
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that the Los Angeles Rams will either trade or release wide receiver Tavon Austin prior to the start of the new league year.
The new league year begins in two weeks. Shortly thereafter, Austin is due a $5 million roster bonus that is guaranteed but the Rams would avoid paying the $3 million base salary if he's released before March 16th. Austin signed a four-year extension in 2016, but the team will shed some cap and move forward with the likes of Robert Woods, Cooper Kupp and possibly Sammy Watkins.
This past season, Austin started 9-of-16 games, but he managed just 13 catches and 47 yards through the air.
