David Johnson reportedly skipping Cardinals minicamp

Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson will skip this week's mandatory minicamp, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

What It Means:

Johnson is on the books for just $1.88 million in the final year of his rookie deal, so the 2016 1st-team All-Pro back understandably wants a long-term extension. According to Schefter, the two sides have been in "discussions" and are "hopeful" a new deal will be reached. Johnson totaled 2,118 yards from scrimmage and 20 total touchdowns in 2016 before a wrist injury forced the 26-year-old back to miss all but one game last season.

numberFire's early models project Johnson to gain 1,031.4 yards on the ground and catch 79.7 passes for 823.6 yards while totaling 13.19 touchdowns in 2018. He's the RB3 in our fantasy rankings.
