No Cowboys' tight end has distanced themselves yet
The Dallas Cowboys have "no clear first-team tight end" yet, The Athletic's Calvin Watkins writes.
According to Watkins, Dalton Schultz, Geoff Swaim, and Blake Jarwin have all split reps with the first team, sometimes used in pairs. Swaim remains Dallas' best blocking tight end, but Jarwin is the favorite to win the receiving job so far. Even Rico Gathers, who has lost some of his 2017 luster, could still be a red zone complement if given an opportunity.
Our models project Gathers as the nominal leader at the position for Dallas this year, as our 47th-best fantasy option at tight end. Swaim is not too far behind at 54th among tight ends league-wide.
