Sammy Watkins seeing fewer targets than Tyreek Hill at Chiefs camp

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Sammy Watkins has been targeted less frequently that Tyreek Hill during training camp, reports ESPN's Adam Teicher.

What It Means:

Despite Watkins playing one more snap than Hill in the preseason opener, the newcomer was out-targeted 2-0. However, the starting offense only played nine snaps, and offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy believes Watkins' role will grow. "Camp is all about finding your rhythm, making sure we get in sync together," Bieniemy said. "When it’s all said and done, Sammy is doing a heck of a job."

numberFire's models expect Watkins to pull in 68.2 passes (127.0 targets) for 970.0 yards and 6.52 touchdowns in 2018. He is 25th and Hill is 11th in numberFire's preseason wide receiver rankings.
