NHL Daily Fantasy Helper: Thursday 5/2/19

In a pair of Game 4s, Columbus and Colorado play the home teams tonight. Who can you trust in NHL DFS?

A good chunk of you played daily fantasy football this year, and I'd be willing to bet a significant portion have also tried out daily fantasy basketball and baseball. But hockey? Hockey?

It's time to give it a try over on FanDuel because it's a ton of fun.

And our analysis and projections can help you win. To help, let's take a look at some goalies, high-priced skaters, and lower-priced players to target for today's slate.

Goalie to Target

Sergei Bobrovsky ($8,300): Boborovsky starts for the Columbus Blue Jackets against on Thursday night against the Boston Bruins. Bobrovsky has won his last two starts against Boston and stole a game on Tuesday, stopping 36 of 37 shots in a 2-1 victory. The Columbus goalie did get some help from a few friendly posts but did equally frustrate Boston's shooters most of the night. Furthermore, Boston projects to shoot 30+ times on Bobrovsky yet again in Game 4. Behind three straight quality starts, the Columbus goaltender a good play in GPPs and tournaments. For a bigger risk, Philipp Grubauer ($7,600) is cheap but worth a look. He was not awful in Game 3 against Colorado (allowed 3 goals on 30 shots) and was a victim of some bad luck as well.

High-Priced Skaters

Nathan MacKinnon ($9,200): To put it simply, MacKinnon is a plug-and-play option on Thursday against the San Jose Sharks. The Logan Couture line only slowed him down a little bit as MacKinnon scored again, had five shots, four scoring chances, and two blocks. And tonight, this is about as much a must-win as a game can get for MacKinnon and the Avalanche. The expectation is another big fantasy night for the center. His price is justified and could still bring value. He has 20+ FanDuel points in six of his last seven outings. Couture ($8,000) again is a great secondary option with nine goals in these playoffs alone.

Cam Atkinson ($7,100): Atkinson was not great on Tuesday, but he was just good enough, as he tallied another assist with three shots and three scoring chances. One of those chances hit the post again (that's three in this series). Eventually, his four-game goal-scoring drought has to end. All kidding aside, the right winger has created some incredulous high-danger chances all series for Columbus. Between him and Artemi Panarin, they have been quite a combination all season long. Boston has had a tough time keeping up with the duo as well. Timo Meier ($6,400) has not been slowed down much either, so the Jackets could be in for a great night as a unit.

Value Skaters

Matthew Nieto ($3,900): This is nuts but Nieto is on a nice little roll, with 13+ FanDuel points in each of the last two games. In limited ice time, he has caused havoc against his former team by creating speed out wide, which makes defensive life difficult for San Jose. He has a goal in each of the previous two contests, and it will be intriguing to see if he gets a bump up in time on ice for Game 4. Even if he does not, Nieto will at least generate a few scoring chances. It all comes down to whether he converts or not.

Cale Makar ($3,600): Being utilized at home, Makar is in a good spot against San Jose. He has double-digit FanDuel points in three of four games now. The rookie plays like a veteran for the most part, and his minutes are around 16 to17 a night, which is not too taxing. The encouraging news is that Makar has manufactured a couple scoring chances in each of his last four starts. The opportunities are there for the young defenseman. Fortunately, playing at home allows the Colorado coaching staff to deploy him mostly in the offensive zone (60-70% utilization). David Savard ($3,700) is a decent floor option from Columbus on Thursday evening.
